What Year is my EZGO golf car?

Generally, finding the manufacturers code and determining the age of most E-Z-GO vehicles is straight forward. Knowing the year and model of your golf car is important when communicating with your local dealer, or, for the DIYers out there, ordering the correct parts to install or repair yourself.

This article will help you in finding and determining the manufacturing date and model of your EZGO golf cart.

Many manufacturers including Textron Specialized Vehicles (TSV) / (EZGO) periodically change, discontinue, or rebrand vehicles. This can sometimes make the visual identification a little tricky. I’ve tried to include the most up-to-date information in this guide to help you.

The following information reflects the vehicle models produced by Textron and branded EZGO and where to find the serial number and manufacturer code.

E-Z-GO RXV (2008 – present)

E-Z-GO Freedom RXV (left), E-Z-GO RXV “fleet” (right)

The EZGO RXV is available as a fleet model and as a Freedom RXV with an additional options package that includes lights, horn, fuel or state-of-charge meter, and a speed increase.

There are at least three locations where you can find the manufacturing tag on the RXV.

  1.  The base of the steering column
  2.  Inside the front, driver’s side wheel fender
  3.  On top of the frame inside the rear-passenger wheel well.

The manufacturing labels come in two different layouts on the RXV. The smaller of the two layouts is found on the steering column and rear frame locations and contain the actual serial number of the vehicle, the model number, and the date code.

Date Code: K2814 – the last 2 digits “14” indicate that this is a 2014 model.

At this point you have all the information you really need. You can write down your serial number and visit the EZGO website to enter your serial number in their system and find out the specific year and model information, or you can look at the date code to get the year.

The date code information you’ll need can be found in the last two digits of the code. If the last two digits are “14”, your vehicle is a 2014

The second label layout found on the front frame location contains the same information as the other labels but also includes the Model. For example, RXV, Freedom Electric. This is helpful if you forgot what model of vehicle you bought and your dealer is asking you for that information.

This label gives Model information, RXV, Freedom Electric, and Date Code: L1216. The last digits “16” indicate it is a 2016 model.

E-Z-GO TXT (2014 – present)

The EZGO TXT is also available as a fleet model (sold new to golf courses – as shown in the picture) and as a Freedom TXT with an additional options package that includes lights, horn, fuel or state-of-charge meter, and a speed increase.

There are three locations where you can find the manufacturing tag on the TXT.

  1.  On the body below the driver’s seat. (Part C in diagram)
  2.  On the cross-section member of the chassis. (to access, raise the seat and lift up the flap on the access panel) – Part A
  3.  On the frame weld tube. (Part D)

E-Z-GO TXT (1996 – 2013)

The older versions of the EZGO TXT only included the serial number in two locations as opposed to the more recent models.

  1.  On the body below the driver’s seat. (Part C in diagram)
  2.  On the cross-section member of the chassis. (to access, raise the seat and lift up the flap on the access panel) – Part A

E-Z-GO Medalist (1994 – 1999)

The Medalists were the steel bodied versions produced from 1994-1999. They also had a single seat back and a handle on the top.

  1.  The serial number and manufacturing code are located along the inside edge of the passenger side glove compartment. The manufacturing date are the last two digits of the manufacturing code.

E-Z-GO Marathon (1988-1993)

The Marathon is easy to distinguish from the Medalist since the Marathon has independent seat backs, no handles on the top. It also has a plastic front bumper on the cowl and a steel body.

  1.  The serial number and manufacturing code are located along the inside edge below the passenger side glove compartment. The manufacturing date are the last two digits of the manufacturing code.
